Material transport from Switzerland

Initial situation

Transport of essential medical supplies that are very difficult or very expensive to obtain in Chad. The supplies come from various hospitals, medical practices, and private individuals in Switzerland.

Project

In January 2014, 1.2 tons of donated medical supplies were sent for the first time to benefit two hospitals in southern Chad. The supplies were transported from Zurich to N'Djamena by air freight and arrived complete and undamaged. The journey to Moundou was made by pickup truck.

These were medical supplies that are difficult to find or very expensive in Chad, thus justifying transport from Switzerland. The materials, which arrived in January 2014, now make a valuable contribution to improving patient care in both hospitals every day.

In June 2016, another shipment took place. This shipment, weighing a total of 1.4 tons, included an X-ray machine, a solar-powered water pump with accessories, and various medical supplies, transported from Zurich to Moundou. The equipment arrived complete, although some items were damaged due to the poor road conditions in Chad. All damage was repaired on site.
