New building
Zigui Marba
Initial situation
The health center in Zigui Marba consisted of a building with mud walls and a thatched roof. In front of it was a mechanical, hand-operated well. There were also two small huts for the short-term hospitalization of patients. It was built with the participation of all the villagers. There was no electricity. Furthermore, there were no beds, no birthing table, and various medical supplies and furniture were lacking.
Project
With the help of Akawda, a social organization from Bongor, and the participation of the entire local population, a new health center was built during 2017. The local community contributed building materials, labor, and financial resources. The building was constructed by apprentice masons and carpenters from the Akwada Association and meets very high standards by Chadian standards.
The building has a strong foundation and all necessary rooms such as a consultation room, pharmacy, delivery room, etc. The delivery table and other furniture were newly manufactured at AATEK in Koyom. In a second phase, the electrical installations will be powered by solar energy.
