Subsidies for patient treatments

Project description

Since its founding in 2009, the El Jire Rapha Clinic in Moundou has always treated all patients regardless of origin, ethnicity, or social status. Many patients are among the poorest and cannot afford shelter, sufficient food for their families, let alone medical treatment. Therefore, after years of investing in improved infrastructure, in June 2018 we also began subsidizing patient treatment for the poorest.

The treatment of an uncomplicated infectious disease costs around 3-5 francs, a birth in hospital 10 francs and a cesarean section including hospitalization around 150 francs.

Approximately 120 patient treatments are partially or fully subsidized each month.

UPDATE: In the years 2019 – 2021, approximately 2600 consultations and treatments, 1300 births and about 70 operations were partially or fully subsidized annually with approximately CHF 35,000.

UPDATE #2: In 2022, approximately CHF 50,000 was used to partially or fully subsidize around 4,000 consultations and treatments, 330 births and 130 operations at the Clinique El Jire Rapha and the Hôpital Confessionnel de Djamane Mbarissou.

UPDATE #3 : In 2023 and 2024, approximately CHF 100,000 was used to partially or fully subsidize around 10,000 consultations and treatments, approximately 700 births, and 300 operations at the Clinique El Jire Rapha and the Hôpital Confessionnel de Djamane Mbarissou. The plan is to continue the social fund beyond 2025 so that disadvantaged patients from Chad can benefit.
